A man has been jailed after throwing an unprovoked punch which killed a ‘wonderful Dad and loving husband’ in Hemel Hempstead. David Lewis, aged 38, of Fennycroft Road in Hemel Hempstead, appeared at Luton Crown Court today (Wednesday 25 March). He was sentenced to four years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of Jack Oliver Frogell, best known as Olly. The incident occurred at a private charity event at Hemel Hempstead Town Football Club in the early hours of Saturday 25 October 2025. Olly, who was aged 48, was at the event with his family when he was punched in the car park by David Lewis. Lewis was seen walking away on CCTV whilst others ran to help Olly. Olly was taken to hospital but sadly died on Tuesday 4 November 2025. Lewis presented at Watford Police Station later on Saturday morning following a witness appeal. Detective Inspector Caeva Taylor, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “This has been a heartbreaking ordeal for Olly’s family and friends, and our thoughts are with them as they continue to deal with their loss.” Shortly after his death, Olly’s wife Lisa said: “Our beloved Olly loved by so many, he was truly the most wonderful Dad and loving husband but also the heart of our community. This has left us with a huge void in our lives that can never be filled.” Olly’s family request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time. Lewis was sentenced by the court to four years and four months. He has already served 119 days on a tagged curfew. | ||
